but, I'm just a kid

Last week, I had the opportunity to go down to Mexico with the Junior High for a week. This place is all about missions. Every day we would go out and build a house for a family and come back. When the teacher spoke at night he spoke about missions. He spoke about how many people have never heard the name of Jesus Christ before and about the 10-40 window. The 10-40 window for those of you who do not know what it is, it is 10 degrees longitude and 40 degrees latitude on the globe.

This section of the world has never heard the name of Jesus Christ, because many missionaries know that the countries that are in this section are dangerous and uncomfortable. So that is why there are barely any missionaries in this section. So when the speaker was talking at night about how we need to go and spread the gospel, I was wondering why he was speaking to us about missions. We couldn't go to another country and preach the gospel. We are just kids. What can we do. See I was taking what he was saying wrong.

Mark 16:15 He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.

I like the way J. Vernon McGee talked about this in his commentary. He states:

This has been a gospel of action. Now He's telling them to get into action! They are to go. And, by the way, He is saying to us today that we should be men and women of action for God. What are you doing today to get out the Word of God? That is our business. You should be having some part in getting the Word of God out.

We can still spread the word of God in our country. You can talk to your friends, neighbors, strangers, or even your family. Even though we are kids or young adults and me may not be able to go to other countries and teach people the gospel, we can do it our country.

1 Timothy 4: 12 "Do not let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, and in purity."

my testimony

Basically I grew up in a christian home like a lot of my friends and I went to church every week. I went to small groups and I pretended every week for two hours on a sunday that I was walking with the Lord. I think I fooled a lot of people. I was living for myself my whole life and never for the Lord. I always did what I wanted to do and not do what God wanted me to do. After church was over I would go home and start living for myself again. I did that for many years. Finally during the summer of 07' I went to Revival 07'. That week changed my life forever. At the beginning of the week Pastor Mike's sermons were yanking on my heart saying repent repent but I just kept ignoring them. Until finally, midweek I started to take the sermons seriously. Then on the last night of camp I just broke. I realized that I was just a pathetic sinful human being living for myself. I was a sinner and I needed to repent. That whole week my friend had been praying and helping me. Finally after the message the last night I pulled him aside and I told him I was ready to repent of my sins and live for the Lord. So after we went to a quite place and we prayed and I finally repented of sins and asked God to be the ruler over my life and to take over me on July 27, 2007 at Revival 07'. That is my testimony and how I became a disciple of Jesus Christ. Ever since, I have been more excited to go to church, learn more about God, singing during worship and talking about God with my friends and my family.
