but, I'm just a kid

Last week, I had the opportunity to go down to Mexico with the Junior High for a week. This place is all about missions. Every day we would go out and build a house for a family and come back. When the teacher spoke at night he spoke about missions. He spoke about how many people have never heard the name of Jesus Christ before and about the 10-40 window. The 10-40 window for those of you who do not know what it is, it is 10 degrees longitude and 40 degrees latitude on the globe.

This section of the world has never heard the name of Jesus Christ, because many missionaries know that the countries that are in this section are dangerous and uncomfortable. So that is why there are barely any missionaries in this section. So when the speaker was talking at night about how we need to go and spread the gospel, I was wondering why he was speaking to us about missions. We couldn't go to another country and preach the gospel. We are just kids. What can we do. See I was taking what he was saying wrong.

Mark 16:15 He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation.

I like the way J. Vernon McGee talked about this in his commentary. He states:

This has been a gospel of action. Now He's telling them to get into action! They are to go. And, by the way, He is saying to us today that we should be men and women of action for God. What are you doing today to get out the Word of God? That is our business. You should be having some part in getting the Word of God out.

We can still spread the word of God in our country. You can talk to your friends, neighbors, strangers, or even your family. Even though we are kids or young adults and me may not be able to go to other countries and teach people the gospel, we can do it our country.

1 Timothy 4: 12 "Do not let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, and in purity."

Keep it coming Mark! I'm sorry I missed the trip to Mexico this time - I'm there next time forsure. Remember to continue make time for God by digging deep each morning to get that fulfillment of spiritual food before you start your day. Then at the end of the day you can go back to God and thank him for what he has shown, taught and given you. Always know God has plenty of guys at church that’ll be there for you during those trials that will come up, so keep them informed. Enjoy your first year of High School !!
Love you much ~ Mom & Dad
